School Safety
In the Twin Falls School District, the safety of our students, staff, and visitors is our top priority. We are committed to creating a secure learning environment where everyone feels protected and valued. Our comprehensive safety program is designed to prevent potential threats and to respond swiftly to any emergency situation. We are constantly reviewing and revising this program to ensure that we are acting in accordance with the most up-to-date safety guidance. Here’s an overview of the key components of our safety measures:
Emergency Preparedness
Our schools regularly conduct emergency drills, including fire and active shooter drills, to ensure students and staff are familiar with procedures in the event of an emergency. We work closely with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency services to coordinate our efforts and refine our response strategies.
Threat Response
When potential threats are identified, we take immediate action to investigate and resolve them. Our staff are trained to handle threats with the utmost seriousness and professionalism. If you hear of a threat, please report it to the school office or law enforcement immediately.
For specific concerns related to threats made against schools, contact the school or district office. Our staff have clear guidelines on how to handle these calls, ensuring that they are treated with urgency and care. All threats are thoroughly assessed to protect the school community.
Single Point of Entrance
All schools in the Twin Falls School District utilize a Single Point of Entrance during school hours. This measure ensures that visitors enter through a monitored and secure location, improving the overall safety of our campuses. Exterior doors remain locked, and staff are trained to maintain strict access control throughout the day. Visitors must check in at the front office, where their identification is verified before being granted access to any part of the school.
Visitor Management
To ensure that our schools remain secure, all visitors are required to check in at the front office upon arrival. We use a visitor management system to verify identification and issue badges for approved access. This policy helps us keep track of who is on campus at all times and maintains a safe environment for everyone.
Armed Personnel
To further ensure the safety of our students and staff, we have armed personnel at every school in the district. School Resource Officers (SROs) are stationed at each of our secondary schools, providing a strong law enforcement presence and supporting the educational environment. Additionally, trained and licensed armed security guards are on duty at each elementary school, ensuring a safe space for our younger students. These personnel work closely with school administrators to prevent and respond to any safety concerns.
Collaboration with Families
We believe that school safety is a shared responsibility. We encourage open communication with parents and guardians to address any concerns related to student safety.
Mental Health and Wellness Support
We also recognize that emotional well-being is essential to a safe school environment. Our schools provide access to counseling and mental health services to help students cope with stress, anxiety, or other issues that may affect their well-being.
